FAQs

Lotus Birth Kit FAQs

  • A Lotus Birth is the practice of leaving the umbilical cord uncut after birth, allowing it to separate from the baby over several days naturally. This honors the connection between baby and placenta and supports a gentle transition into the world.

  • On average, the umbilical cord separates naturally within 3 to 10 days, depending on the environment and how the placenta is cared for.

  • Yes. Our kit includes natural, non-toxic materials and an instructional guide to help you preserve the placenta safely. Always follow good hygiene practices and consult your birth provider if you have concerns.

  • The included herbs are used to naturally preserve the placenta, reduce odor, and promote drying. They also carry traditional healing and protective properties.

  • Some families choose to bury the placenta, plant it with a tree, or hold a small ceremony. Others may preserve it in keepsake form. Your care provider or doula can help you plan what feels meaningful for your family.

Placenta Artwork

Commemorate your birth experience with a custom piece of artwork.

Handcrafted Placenta Art—each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation, celebrating the connection between mother and baby. Our placenta art comes in two styles to suit your aesthetic:

Acrylic Paint Placenta Print

This style uses the placenta itself to create an abstract piece that is referred to as a placenta print created with acrylic paint. You can personalize the print by incorporating specific colors that show off the beauty of your placenta. This style is created on mixed media paper and is 11”x14”.

Floral Photograph Placenta Art

This style highlights the texture of the placenta paired with florals. You will receive a photograph with custom placenta art, where you can collaborate with the artists to create a personalized piece that has special meaning. You can personalize by incorporating specific colors or florals that show off the beauty of your placenta.

Both options are created with care and respect. Each style of artwork is a reflection of the journey of life, honoring the bond between mother and child.

FAQs

Custom Placenta Artwork FAQs

  • Placenta art is a creative way to honor and preserve the memory of your birth experience using your actual placenta. It often includes prints made from the placenta itself or artwork inspired by its unique shape and structure, sometimes referred to as the “Tree of Life.”

  • Yes. All prints are made shortly after birth in a sanitary, controlled environment. We use safe, non-toxic materials and follow hygiene protocols throughout the process.

  • The placenta is gently rinsed and patted dry before being used to make the imprint. No permanent damage is done to the tissue if you plan to encapsulate or bury it afterward.

  • Yes. If you no longer have your placenta but have a clear image, we can create a stylized, digital “Tree of Life” illustration based on the shape and vessels in the photo.

  • It's best to arrange placenta art services before birth so we can coordinate safe handling and timely creation. If your baby is already here, reach out as soon as possible to ensure we can preserve your placenta for use.
