Well-Woman Care FAQs

  • Well-woman care includes routine check-ups and screenings focused on your reproductive and overall health. This can include pelvic exams, PAP smears, STI testing, breast exams, family planning, and general wellness support.

  • Anyone with a uterus can receive well-woman care from a midwife—whether or not you're pregnant. Midwives provide care through all stages of life, from adolescence to menopause.

  • Our well-woman care includes:

    • STI Testing

    • PAP Smears

    • Family Planning & Counseling

    • Pregnancy Confirmation

  • It’s recommended to have a well-woman visit once a year, or more often if you have specific health concerns or are managing a condition with your provider.

  • Nope! Midwives are trained to provide primary and reproductive health care, not just pregnancy and birth support.

  • Your visit may include a conversation about your health history, a physical exam, any needed screenings or tests, and time to ask questions or talk about your health goals. We’re here to make you feel comfortable, supported, and informed.

  • Yes, absolutely. All care at Birth Detroit is confidential, respectful, and judgment-free.

  • Yes! We offer a variety of birth control options and counseling to help you choose what works best for you.
